For cases where there is no apparent fracture or an open wound (which would require suturing) and is more like a soft tissue injury, I advise treatment that cures the injury and restores the health of the affected organ. Soft tissue injuries are injuries of a tendon, muscle, nerves and other organs around a joint or a bone, which show up as sprains, strains, knee injuries, swollen muscles, ankle injuries, elbow injuries and shoulder injuries. I also specialise in treating spondylosis, spondylitis, disc compressions and other diseases of the spine. I manage the patient on conservative treatment and help them avoid surgeries. However, there could be times when a surgical intervention is required and I would be able to guide you with that decision. I could request external investigations, like MRIs, XRays and Blood tests to be done, to understand your condition. Ayurveda is an individual centric medical system. Your treatment plan is not generic but specifically based on your body constitution, the cause of injury and the extent of damage. Your 1st online or physical consultation might take 1 hr to 1.5 hrs. According to the physiology described in Ayurveda, a trauma causes mixing of trauma- induced toxins in the blood resulting in the vitiation of vata. This vata and abnormal blood continues to cause pain and inflammation in the same area repeatedly or moves around to other weak parts of the body involving them in the long term. My treatment involves treating the injury locally by using panchakarma procedures like bandha, pichu, oil application (NOT MASSAGE. DO NOT MASSAGE AN INJURED PART), lepam and leech therapy. At the same time, I also introduce a systemic regimen of Ayurvedic medicines to counteract the toxins in the blood, balance the vata, reduce the inflammation, strengthen the joint and hasten the restoration of the injured tissues. I also provide yogatherapy to my patients. If there is an open wound, a dislocation or a fracture, the patient will need to visit a Casualty or Trauma Management Centre before consulting me. In India, Ayurvedic doctors go through a medical course of 6 years which also covers the modern medicine (allopathic medicine) syllabus of a conservative medical doctor. I am qualified and trained to understand your condition based on your signs, symptoms and investigations.
